Just saw six lights in an 'arrow' formation glide silently across the cloudy rainy sky, near Port Panthers at 6.50/6.55 pm. No flashing lights or noise, as occurs with aircraft, etc.

Wondering whether anyone saw numerous (40+) lights similar in shape and size to bright stars. They were travelling in an east to west direction at approximately the speed of a high flying aircraft over Penrith in the early hours (2am) on Saturday (1/9/2018)? Objects appeared to be travelling in formation or formed up to fly in a triangular formation.

Last night the 28 August 2018 and again tonight, in the same spot, I saw a bright light. I first thought it was a bright star but it started moving and appeared to high to be a plane, as some aircraft were passing infront and well below the moving light. It moved left and stopped for a while then moved back to where I first saw it and then it was stationary after that.

About 2.30 am on the morning of 25 August 2018 I was in bed and looking at the stars. I was looking at one very bright star that was stationary in the sky, it looked like the size of a planet. Suddenly it started to slowly descend. This happened over a period of about one minute, this was very odd. Then the object took off at speed in an easterly direction for two minutes and then went out of sight. I have seen many satellites but none this size and none this fast moving.

Just wondering if anyone saw what I saw at 10 pm on Tuesday night 28 August 2018? There were two bright lights travelling north on the eastern side of Lake Macquarie. When I saw them first they were over Eleebana heading north. Newcastle Airport is north of there so they might have simply been light aircraft. The reason I am reporting this is that it was unusual. One was following the other maybe 600 metres behind. They were low, about a thousand feet high and travelling slowly. They only had one light each which was bright orange, with no flashing lights anywhere. I turned the car around to follow them and there was only the orange light from behind. I didn't hear any sound, no drone of a motor or helicopter and it wasn't windy. It was partly cloudy. One continued north and disappeared into cloud. Maybe it just landed at the airport or helipad at Broadmeadow. The other went further north east and looked to head south for a minute before heading north again. Then I lost track of it.

In regards to my earlier posting I forgot to include the times and the duration of my sighting. The light seemed to be stationary but was moving away. The light was much brighter than a star and it was visible for around 20 to 30 minutes. It certainly was not a plane, chopper or star and it looked to be close to the moon. There was no city lights in my area, nor were there clouds so I had a clear view of whatever it was.

Around 1:30 am I saw an object that was moving the opposite direction to the earth's rotation with red, green lights flashing and a white stationery light. It was not a plane as it was too far up and it stopped still at times. It was a clear sky and there were no clouds or clusters of clouds around it. Did anyone else see this object?

I saw these light on the 12 August, initially over North Sydney, also drifting to the east and fading. I took this picture which is on Flickr at: https://flic.kr/p/MX2csf. There are four faint points of light visible in the tip of the cloud near the centre. These were much brighter when I first saw it, and faded while I got the camera out.

Thank you to all those who reported the sighting on the evening of the 12 August 2018, visible in the eastern states of Australia. We suspect that this cluster of sightings is due to the vapour trail from NASA's Delta IV rocket that is carrying the Parker Solar Probe. The rocket was launched earlier from Florida USA. The probe will eventually get within six million kilometres of the Sun's surface, allowing scientists to study the Sun's corona. Saw the same object in the western sky, as reported by Christine, Warwick, Michelle, etc on 12 August 2018, in an area to the west of Coffs Harbour, NSW. I have never seen anything like it and observed it for close to an hour. I wanted to report it so it could be looked at more closely. I managed to talk to an astronomer in Tasmania, who said it was most likely a debris cloud from a meteor hitting the atmosphere roughly 40 km above the Earth. Sounds true, as it explains the west-east movement (wind), and that it was reflecting sunlight like a satellite and eventually faded as it rose too high for the sun. I have seen nothing in the media. I would love to see some quality photos taken of it.

On Sunday, 12 August 2018, just after 1800 I saw an indistinct patch of light in the western sky. We could't get any focus, using binoculars, but it seemed like a very high cloud catching the (now departed) sun or like the moon, behind cloud. However, it was neither cloudy or 'moony'. The object was also getting higher in the sky, ie from the west, travelling along a line to the east. It was very 'slow' and the object faded as it got higher and was pretty much gone by the time it reached the 12 o'clock position. It must have been very high if people are reporting this object from south of Sydney?

On Sunday, evening the 12 August 2018 at around 7.20 pm I noticed a bright star with a luminescent cloud around it. The light was in the western sky about 45-60 degrees above the horizon. The light was clearly visible over the city lights and the sky was clear of cloud. The light in the center was like a bright star but the cloud seem to eminate from the the light and glowed clearly in the night sky, the cloud had a petal shape. Over five minutes the bright star light faded away, leaving the cloud which became dim over time, to me it looked like you where looking at a rocket in the upper atmosphere heading away and the cloud was the exhaust lit by the sun or rocket exhaust. I have a poor photo of the cloud taken after the bright star had diminished. The cloud appeared to be the size of a ping pong ball held at arms length.

At 6.20 pm on Sunday, 12 August 2018, I noticed a strange sight in evening sky to the south west. Low in the sky and looked similar to the aura around the moon when covered in light cloud, however sky was cloudless. Didn't appear to be moving. I took a photo however it requires magnifying to show actual shape.

Hello, sighted at Nabiac, on the mid north coast of NSW at 6.20 pm on the 12 August 2018. It saw a very bright star surrounded by star dust or light vapor in south, south west. Clear sky, no moon. Was low in the sky, about the height a helicopter would fly. The star lasted about five minutes then disappeared, the light vapor faded away after another ten minutes. Never seen anything like this before!

On the 12 August 2018 from about 18.15 to 18.55 we saw what started as a fuzzy light low to the west of Little Hartley NSW, like a plane with landing lights on in a mist. It appeared to be getting closer and rising in the sky at a similar rate to a plane, getting bigger and brighter. It was indistinct in shape and changing but one photo shows three parts and others an indistinct round shape with a centre dark part? There was a little cloud around but clear in the vecinity of this, 'bright cloud' as stars and Venus near it were perfectly visible. When it got high overhead it remained in that place, not moving, for perhaps 15 to 20 minutes before fading away. A plane did fly a similar path during that time but I couldn't judge altitude of object from that.

Hi. I live on the Hawksbury River north of Sydney. At about 7 pm my friends and I saw a stationary diffuse light high in the sky. It was similar to the way the Batman signal is portrayed. A bit like a tiny yellow cloud, in an otherwise clear night sky. With binoculars it had a dark centre with three lines radiating out, a bit like the peace or radiation sign. We watched this for about 20 minutes, it gradually faded. It was very odd.
