Ok guys to give you some background on the observer. I been in aviation since I was 10, I'm now 38. So I know the difference between a high flying plane and satellite. I get the satellite reports from Heavens Above. Especially 'flashing satellites' that are rotating in orbit and give the appearance that they are flashing. I've never had an experience like this. I live at Sapphire Coast in Merimbula. From my balcony I have a panoramic view of the Merimbula township and ocean. At about 8:20 pm last night I observed a stange flash on the eastern horizon, maybe 30 to 40 degrees in elevation. It flashed again slighty dimmer, between 20 and 40 seconds between flashes, just like the run of the mill rotating space junk. It was heading due east and becoming lower in the sky. As my eyes adjusted I could see the very dim object. At this time it started making jerky movements, back and forth, a circle maybe, etc. Thats when I realised that it was quite late for a satellite to be so low on the horizon as I thought it would be in the sun's shadow. I yelled out to my partner and seven year old to come take a look as I thought it was a UFO. They came out and watched it flash. It was extremely strange feeling, as the light seems to pulsate not flash. Thats when the unbelievable happened, I've got goose bumps reporting this. It was about 20 degrees above the eastern horizon due east when it started to move fast, due west, with a speed like you see in science fiction movies. In one second from that position it was 90 degrees above our heads and vanished, like warp drive. Everyone yelled out as we... Read more

It was about 20 degrees above the eastern horizon due east when it started to move fast, due west, with a speed like you see in science fiction movies. In one second from that position it was 90 degrees above our heads and vanished, like warp drive. Everyone yelled out as we couldn't believe what had happens, my partner became scared. I went inside to get my green laser pointer to show another family member what just happened and where, when a meteor streaked over the spot where the UFO was heading east, in jerky movements before it reversed directions and went into warp drive. Then about another minute later another flash from the same area. I went outside for 30 minutes scanning the sky but that was it. Please tell me what you think or if you have had reports similar to this one, as I'm POSITIVE someone else saw this. Email me if you need further information and I will print out what I saw on a star chart with a map and viewing positions. Thanks guys. Regards Khay Halliwell... Collapse
